Medieval Chain Mail Measurement Guide
Sizing is the most important part in any chain mail production,
since these products are made of tough material most of the artisan follows standard flat
measurements which can generally end up bulky on the torso and baggy towards wrist area adding
to movement restriction.

producing our chain mail products however giving extra attention to details both in terms of
measurement and customization.
- Neck
- Wrap a piece of string or tape measure around your neck where you want the chain mail to sit.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Chest
- Wrap a piece of string or tape measure around the fullest part of your chest.
- Add 2-3 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Waist
- Wrap a piece of string or tape measure around your waist at the level where you want the chain mail to sit.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Hips
- Wrap a piece of string or tape measure around the widest part of your hips.
- Add 2-3 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Arms
- Measure the circumference of your upper arm at the widest point, with your arm bent at a 90-degree angle.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Measure the length of your arm from your shoulder to your wrist.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Legs
- Measure the circumference of your thigh at the widest point.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Measure the length of your leg from your waist to your ankle.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Sleeve length
- Measure from the armpit to the wrist.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
- Armpit measurement
- Measure the circumference of your body under your armpits.
- Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to allow for some extra room.
This measurement is important for ensuring that the chain mail sleeves fit properly and do not restrict your movement. When taking this measurement, make sure to stand up straight and relaxed. You can also have someone else help you take the measurement to ensure accuracy.
