Medieval Kettle Hat Helmet from Heavy 14 Gauge Steel

The Kettle Hat or War Hat gets its name from its resemblance to a cooking pot. This was a very common helmet all over medieval Europe. Records indicate that such helmets were used as early as the Carolingian period but disappeared for a time and reappeared sometime in the 12th century.

This particular model is illustrated profusely in the Morgan Bible. Offering a great range of vision and breathing, as well as sufficient head protection, it is no wonder, this was a very popular helmet among medieval soldiers.
