the padding all around the neck shoulder and head is nice but it does not cover the forehead so I'm going to have to modify this a little if I'm going to use it for sparring. This means the maille coif will touch the bareskin on your forehead, although this is covered by the helmet it does dig in. The inner liner also bunches up a little around the face. With a better tailoring on the head portion this would be excellent, but as I will have to make some adjustment I can only give it 3 stars
